Where Is It Located and How to Get There?
MIMARU TOKYO UENO EAST is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from JR Ueno Station’s Iriya Exit, on the station’s east side.
If you’re arriving by JR train, look for signs pointing toward the “Iriya Exit” — this is the most direct and stroller-friendly route to the hotel.

Once you leave through the Iriya Exit, head slightly to the left and cross the main road. The hotel is just around the corner, making it easy to find even for first-time visitors.
Whether you’re pulling a suitcase or pushing a stroller, the walk is smooth and manageable.
🚃 In addition to JR lines (including the Shinkansen), Tokyo Metro’s Ginza Line and Hibiya Line also stop at Ueno Station, both just a short walk from the hotel.

📍 Getting there from the airport is simple.
You can reach MIMARU TOKYO UENO EAST from both Narita and Haneda Airports by train, without needing a car or shuttle.👍

Our Stay in the Pokémon Room – Family Review
We stayed as a family of four — two parents, one 5-year-old, and one 2-year-old — at the Pokémon Room inside MIMARU TOKYO UENO EAST.
🏨 In this section, we’ll share what the experience was really like:
from check-in and the overall hotel atmosphere to the room decorations, amenities, family-friendly features, and how everything worked for us as parents with small children.

If you’re wondering things like “Is this hotel really worth it?” or “Is it comfortable with young kids?”,
we hope our honest review will help you decide.
Check-In and First Impressions
From the moment we arrived, the staff at MIMARU TOKYO UENO EAST made us feel welcome. Everyone was kind, polite, and genuinely friendly — creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that continued throughout our stay.

💁♀️ The staff were mostly young and cheerful, and they spoke to our little girls with gentle smiles and kindness — which really helped them feel at ease in a new environment.
One charming touch was a welcome board showing cute illustrated portraits of the staff on duty that day, along with their nicknames. It made the front desk feel more personal and approachable, and our kids loved pointing out their favorite drawings.

🔠 Since the hotel welcomes many international guests, we noticed that the staff could communicate in English and other languages as well. This gave us a lot of confidence — especially for travelers visiting Japan for the first time.

The lobby area is compact but clean, quiet, and well-maintained. Overall, we felt completely relaxed from check-in through to the end of our stay.
Room Design and Decorations (Snorlax, Wallpapers, etc.)
✨ I’ll never forget the moment we opened the door — our kids’ eyes lit up instantly.
The entire room was filled with Pokémon-themed designs, from the walls to the bedding. It truly felt like we had stepped into a storybook world.
💤 The centerpiece of the room? A giant Snorlax plush lying across the bed, as if it were peacefully sleeping.

👀 What impressed us most was the attention to detail.
It became a fun game for our kids (and for us!) to spot different Pokémon throughout the room:
“Look! There’s another one!” — every discovery sparked a smile.

Special Pokémon-Themed Gifts for Guests
🛍 As part of the stay, we received three exclusive Pokémon-themed items:
a laundry bag, a multi-purpose pouch, and a drawstring bag — each featuring original Pokémon artwork or silhouettes.

These gifts weren’t just cute — they were actually useful! We loved how the designs were unique to the hotel, making them the perfect souvenir to remember our stay.
In terms of amenities, the room had almost everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
🪥 However, please note that toothbrushes and slippers are not provided in the room by default. If you need them, just ask at the front desk.
Room Size, Kitchen, and Family-Friendly Setup
The Pokémon Room we stayed in was around 40 square meters (430+ sq ft) — much more spacious than a typical hotel room in Tokyo.
Instead of four individual beds, the room had two sets of twin beds placed side by side, creating two large sleeping spaces that were perfect for families.

🚰 The room also includes a fully equipped kitchen, with a refrigerator, microwave, pots, pans, utensils, plates, and even chopsticks and cups. You can easily store drinks and groceries, or cook simple meals with your family.
🍅 There were even Pokémon-themed recipe ideas available via QR code — a fun touch for those who want to try cooking together!

🚿 The bathroom was spacious and included a separate washing area, which made it easy to bathe young children.
Shampoo, body soap, towels, and other essentials were all provided.

👕 Another highlight was the walk-in closet, which gave us plenty of room to store suitcases and clothing — especially helpful for longer stays or families traveling with lots of luggage.

For laundry, the hotel has coin-operated washers and dryers on the ground floor. The machines use automatic detergent, so no need to bring your own.
This feature is perfect for extended trips or travelers who want to pack light.

Overall, the room felt less like a typical hotel and more like a temporary home — one that just happens to be filled with Pokémon!
Safety and Comfort Features for Families with Kids
🧒 As a family-friendly hotel, MIMARU TOKYO UENO EAST included several thoughtful touches that made our stay safer and more comfortable with small children.
For example, the corners of the dining table were covered with soft corner protectors, which gave us peace of mind — especially with our 2-year-old daughter running around.

In the bathroom, there was a small step stool, which helped our kids reach the sink easily for handwashing.
The same stool could also be used in the bath area as a seat.

The room itself had a flat, step-free layout, making it easy to move around with a stroller or let young kids explore without worry.
It’s the kind of space where both kids and parents can relax.
Why It’s Perfect for a Birthday Surprise or Celebration
This trip was a birthday getaway for our daughter — and just staying in the Pokémon Room felt like a big present in itself!
We didn’t tell our kids what kind of room we had booked. When we finally arrived and said, “This is a Pokémon Room,” their reaction was priceless.

😳 The look of pure surprise and joy on their faces when they saw the giant Snorlax was something we’ll never forget.
Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or just a special family trip, this room adds a magical, memorable element to your stay.
